Johari Hidden Treasure
Johari is a successful fashion house which is run by Seed of Hope, with two large outlets in Nairobi, and offers fantastic opportunities for our girls to develop their skills and confidence.
Through these outlets, based in Nairobi, we are able to sell produce that has been made by Seed of Hope graduates. This gives us a fantastic opportunity to boost their business efforts. Furthermore, all the profit from Johari is reinvested in Seed of Hope centres. Johari also provides excellent opportunities for our girls to develop their self-esteem, their dressmaking and business skills, and their life experience. You will soon be able to purchase Johari products from Seed of Hope graduates on-line!
Johari offers numerous development opportunities for Seed of Hope staff, students and graduates. It is really boosting the work of Seed of Hope, providing work for graduates from all over the country. During 2007 we also integrated the graduates from Seed of Hope Nyamache and Seed of Hope Kariti which is an exciting development for us.
Through Johari, the Seed of Hope centres have met new donors and supporters, new volunteers, wide media coverage and much more.
Johari is a name that means 'jewel' or 'something precious' in Swahili. This name was chosen as it reflects so much of our purpose.
The girls we work with at Seed of Hope Centres are precious, the opportunities provided by Seed of Hope Centres are precious, and as a result - the products of Johari are precious too.
Our slogan 'Hidden Treasure' also reflects this. The vulnerable girls who graduate from the Seed of Hope Centres and bring their wonderful skills, are truly Johari's hidden treasure.
Johari is a philanthropic venture project founded by Seed of Hope with the Sumerian Foundation and the Kate MacKaskill Foundation.
